Accessibility testing
Components
As a minimum, all components pass automated tests at WCAG 2.2 level AA in axe and pa11y.
They are also tested manually using:
- WAVE browser extension
- axe DevTools
- VoiceOver
- VoiceControl
- Zoom on Mac
Patterns
Because patterns are made of multiple components and screens and can be built in several ways, their accessibility depends on how they are implemented.
This means we cannot guarantee that patterns or working examples of user journeys will be accessible if used in your service. You should always carry out your own accessibility testing.
Any known issues or special accessibility considerations will be described in the guidance for the relevant pattern.
